This is a beautiful Mexican opal with some great play of fire. The opal has been carved into a free form shape which gives an idea as to how these opals are found in the ground.
Mexican opal is a very unique type of opal. The most expensive type of mexican opal is the type that has a very deep red body colour. After the body tone is assesed, the play of colour is the next feature of the opal. Mexican opal is the only opal where a deep red opal with no play of colour will be more expensive than any other Mexican opal.
